AU of Live Free and Twihard (S6). In medias res: all of this is exposition and the story begins when Sam finds out its his fault Dean's a vampire. Or soon after. Telling Sam could be the exposition part.

Setup

The cure doesn't work

Dean runs away, or Dean feeds, or, there is no cure. Best plan would be Dean feeds on bagged blood at the nest so the cure doesn't work

Sam's soulless, how do I swing that? It wouldn't bother Sam so much then if Dean was a vamp. Or, he might not bat at eye at ganking Dean. So Dean might run.

Sam gets his soul back

Who would work so hard other than Dean to get Sam's soul back? No one. Dean might be hidden, but he follows Sam. Along with letting Dean get turned, Sam does other stuff that's out of character. Dean figures it out, goes to Bobby. They get Sam's soul back, then Dean has to tell Sam that he got turned without scratching the wall.

The truth comes out

Of course it comes out that Sam let it happen. There's Sam guilt. Many emo. Much sad.

Stuff Happens

Now that it's all set up, pretty much anything could happen.

• hunters could go after them because Dean's a vampire
• Bobby could insist Dean top himself now that he's got Sam back
• Dean could prepare to top himself now that Sam's soul is back (could have been a deal he made with Bobby, I know I gotta do it, but I'll do it once Sam's back) but Sam stops him somehow
• What to do with Samuel? He'd be an advocate for ganking Dean, I'm sure.
