we should have got an episode where winchesters had the power to read minds. all missed opportunities like pining winchesters learning about each other feelings, dean hearing the things cass actually think about both brothers, finding out all the insecurities

Potentially just the one mind reader. Maybe Sam, and Sam POV.
It's not like I haven't written mindreaders before.

Dean actually likes Sam's long hair.
The love Dean feels is so intense Sam can barely bear it. It's otherworldly. Sam might have got demon blood, but Dean was engineered, too. By Chuck. And his gift was the ability to love like no one has ever loved before. They really are the darkness and the light.
That's why everyone loves Dean. That's why he feels loss so intensely.
Hearing Dean's thoughts (and only Dean's thoughts, no one else's) Sam is overwhelmed, particularly by the intensity of the love Dean feels for him.
So it's not just words. Some of it is, of course, but a lot of it is impressions, emotions. There are pictures in there, too. But lots and lots of feelings.
While he's battling with the overwhelm, Dean's trying to help him but it's making it worse. Until Sam, practically unaware of what he's doing, kisses Dean.
For a brief moment, Dean goes silent. Then everything he's thinking and feeling hits sam like a wave. And rather than stopping him, he ramps it up.
Sam doesn't stop because he knows Dean doesn't want him to.
He does everything Dean wants because he hears it, feels it, sees it.
They don't even need to talk.
Sam fucks Dean and neither of them needs to say a word.
Need a how the fuck did this happen. Spell, magical accident? Curse? Could be someone cursed them to slow them down, thinking it would sow disharmony between them, instead it made them more efficient and they killed the witch quicker but now they don't know how to undo it and they learn to live with Sam reading Dean's mind.
Start in the middle of the fight/case/job.
Could be both reading each others minds. It doesn't sow disharmony but it does slow them down because they're busy having a love fest.
It could be some kind of artifact they find in the bunker. Like a matching pair perhaps. Dean's like ooh look, one each, hands one to Sam, and boom, it starts. Well, it starts slow tbh.
